Built for Discord, streaming, Zoom, Teams, and everyday calls: mute the default microphone fast from the tray — no more hunting through Sound settings or wondering if you are hot.

  • Global hotkey

    Toggle mute from any app — even when a game or meeting window has focus. With F1–F12, add Ctrl or Alt if your PC treats bare function keys as media or brightness keys.

  • Tray icon with live state

    The notification-area icon shows whether the default mic is muted. When it is unmuted, optional level animation pulses with input so you can see your mic is live.

  • Microphone overlay (always on top)

    A draggable on-screen indicator with per-state opacity and size (50–200%). Click to toggle (unless click-through mode is on). Reset position anytime.

  • Click-through mode

    Let mouse clicks pass through the overlay to windows below — ideal parked over empty desktop. Use the hotkey or tray menu to toggle mute while in this mode.

What is Mutello?

Mutello is a free Windows app that lives in your system tray so you can mute your default microphone with a global hotkey, see mute state on the icon, and optionally use an always-on-top on-screen overlay.

How is Mutello different from muting in Discord or Teams?

Those apps mute only inside that app. Mutello controls the default Windows recording device, so your microphone state is consistent everywhere.
